Mentors and how have they assisted you in your career:
The first mentor and most influential person in my life was my father who taught me at an early age to treat everyone with dignity and respect no matter what their title, from the person who cleans the office to the chief executive officer. He believed that everyone had an important job to do and no one is better than anyone else.  That philosphy has helped me in my career to develop meaningful and effective relationships in each organization where I have worked.

What are you most proud of in your career achievements? Do you have a defining moment of your career to date?
I started in this industry as a part-time reset merchandiser in grocery stores and have progressed to my current role by holding varying positions in sales and marketing within several large manufacturers.  When I look back over the years, I realize that there has not been one defining moment but a series of small moments.  Each of the roles that I have held has provided invaluable experience that has prepared me for the work I do today.

Most challenging part of your job:
I work in an area of the organization that supports and interacts with many varied, diverse departments.  A typical day could include meeting with the finance team, next the IST team, then our brand teams and agency partners, and at the end of the day hold a training for our sales team.  Being able to interact effectively with all of these groups and “speak their language” is definitely challenging, and exciting.

Advice for upcoming younger executives:
Leave your ego at the door, be willing to do what is best for the organization regardless of your personal view, really listen to what others are telling you and be willing to accept constructive criticism that will enable you to grow, give credit where it is due, and support one another.

Hobbies:
Quilting, knitting, gardening, cooking – anything domestic!
