Mentors and how have they assisted you in your career:

Rose Lamendola and Maggie Bunn: my Mom and Grandmother… showed me it was possible to be highly successful in business and also be a great and involved mother; they were both a head of their time

Barbara Jarzab, first supervisor at IRI: extremely bright and a great teacher.  Took a chance on me straight out of college; showed me that a positive attitude and confidence were winning characteristics.

Wayne Shurts, Director; Nabisco Brands:  a true visionary….high energy, clear focus and direction.  Encouraged me to complete my MBA and taught me how to have patience and develop others.

Jim Tracy, Senior VP, Wakefern Supermarkets: was instrumental in helping me build trust with the customer…a great sounding board with an awesome sense of humor.

Dick Turici, VP/GM, BBU: one of the most empowering people I know.   Gave individuals with talent the opportunity regardless of gender/ethnicity/race…he helped break the glass ceiling for many.

Tony Gavin, SVP, Sales, BBU: probably one of the most strategic people I have ever worked with and learned from…gave me exposure to our international businesses and leaders

Bill Fauerbach and Tom McLaughlin: DVP Publix Supermarkets; both taught me the value of hard work, trust and customer service.   Importantly, they taught me the value of giving back to the community and how to be a good role model.

What are you most proud of in your career achievements? Do you have a defining moment oyour career to date?

  • Building meaningful relationships with people; I am honored to have many friends as colleagues; nothing makes me more proud than when they get promoted or advance in their career.
  • Selected as Grupo Bimbo International Leader of the Quarter in March 2014

Most challenging part of your job: I love my job and my company and I love my family (Cliff, my husband of 25 years and daughters Alexa, Jessica and Victoria)….just trying to figure out how to get the right balance is the most challenging.

Advice for upcoming younger executives:

  • Stay Curious and Reserve the right to get smarter!
  • Take on additional projects and opportunities and don’t wait for them to come to you…go out and seek them.
  • Be a good person and I know it sounds cliché but always do the right thing.  My Dad always said that when you do the right thing, good things will happen for you.

Hobbies: Reading, cheering for my beloved Miami Heat! Renovating a condo….I am a master at grouting tile!
