Mentors and how have they assisted you in your career:
I have been fortunate to have several mentors throughout my career; however one individual rises to the top. Jerry Shafir, our founder and chief executive officer, took a risk by hiring me right out of college and guided me through my early years in the foodservice industry. He has always believed in me, supported and guided me in my decision-making and valued my contributions. His unwavering dedication to the integrity of our products, employees and customers continues to inspire me. This wisdom has been my compass in building a strong sales organization.

What are you most proud of in your career achievements? Do you have a defining moment of your career to date?
I am most proud of my current sales organization, and their commitment to personal excellence and driving rapid sales growth. Bringing new people into the company and seeing their passion for the business and their personal growth is the most rewarding part of my career.

Most challenging part of your job:
For me the most challenging part of my job has been developing the discipline to take a step back and slow down. I love a big challenge, especially when it results in creating a mutually rewarding partnership with a new customer.  My intensity has been an integral part of my success; however, I’ve learned that being more patient can often lead to a better end result.

Advice for upcoming younger executives:
Don’t wait around and hope that success will come to you. Create it. Be proactive and make connections. Nurture relationships, follow up and follow through.  Above all else, love what you do, your company and your product.
